PassSmith

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PassSmith Studio handles information when you use the browser extension.

Effective date: June 27, 2026 Last updated: June 27, 2026
Short version: PassSmith Studio generates passwords and passphrases locally in your browser. The extension does not collect, sell, share, transmit, or permanently store generated passwords or passphrases. It does not use analytics, tracking, telemetry, advertising, remote code, or any external backend service.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the PassSmith Studio browser extension for Chrome and compatible Chromium-based browsers. It describes the information processed by the extension, the purposes of that processing, and the privacy safeguards built into the extension.

2. Data Controller / Publisher

PassSmith Studio is provided by the developer and publisher identified in the Chrome Web Store listing for the extension. Privacy inquiries may be submitted through the official support contact or support channel listed in that Chrome Web Store listing.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

PassSmith Studio does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, disclose, or share any of the following:

4. Information Processed Locally

The extension processes limited information locally on your device only for the purpose of providing its core password and passphrase generation features.

Generated passwords and passphrases

Generated credentials are created locally in your browser using browser cryptographic APIs. They may be shown in the extension user interface, copied to your clipboard, or inserted into the currently active field if you request autofill. Generated credentials are not sent to the developer or to any external server and are not stored permanently by the extension.

User settings

The extension stores user settings such as language, theme, theme color, generator mode, password options, passphrase options, auto-copy preference, autofill mode, temporary availability setting, and related interface preferences in Chrome extension storage. These settings are used only to remember your preferences.

Aggregate local statistics

The extension may store aggregate local statistics such as total generation count, password/passphrase counts, average length, shortest and longest generated length, strength distribution, and daily generation totals. These statistics do not contain generated passwords or passphrases.

5. Clipboard Handling

When you click copy or enable auto-copy, the generated password or passphrase may be written to your clipboard. If clipboard clearing on expiry is enabled, the extension may read the clipboard solely to check whether it still matches the generated value and, if it matches, clear it. Clipboard content is not transmitted, logged, or stored by the extension.

6. Active Field Filling and Host Access

PassSmith Studio includes a content script so the user can fill the active password or text field on websites when requested. This access is used only to identify a supported active or focused field and set the generated value in that field. The extension does not collect website content, browsing history, form contents, page text, links, images, or user activity from websites you visit.

7. Storage Location and Retention

User settings are stored in Chrome extension storage and may be synchronized by the browser if Chrome Sync is enabled for your browser profile. Aggregate statistics are stored locally in the browser profile until you clear them, reset the extension data, or uninstall the extension. Generated credentials are temporary and are not retained permanently by the extension.

8. Remote Code, Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

PassSmith Studio does not load or execute remote code. All JavaScript, CSS, images, and other assets required for the extension are bundled with the extension package. The extension does not use analytics, tracking, telemetry, advertising SDKs, third-party pixels, or external backend services.

9. Sharing, Selling, and Disclosure

PassSmith Studio does not sell, rent, trade, share, or disclose user data to third parties. The extension does not transfer user data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.

10. Security

The extension is designed to minimize data processing and to perform generation locally. Password and passphrase generation uses browser cryptographic APIs where applicable. No security measure can be guaranteed to be perfect, but the extension is designed to avoid unnecessary collection, transmission, and retention of sensitive information.

11. Children

PassSmith Studio is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. International Data Transfers

The developer does not operate a backend service for PassSmith Studio and does not receive user data from the extension. If your browser synchronizes extension settings through your browser account, that synchronization is provided by the browser vendor and governed by that vendor's own terms and privacy policy.

13. Your Choices and Rights

You can change extension settings at any time, clear aggregate statistics from the extension interface, clear extension storage through your browser settings, disable the extension, or uninstall it. To the extent applicable privacy laws grant you additional rights, you may contact the publisher through the official support contact listed in the Chrome Web Store listing.

14. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the extension, legal requirements, or Chrome Web Store policies. The "Last updated" date above indicates the latest revision.

15. Contact

For privacy questions about PassSmith Studio, use the support contact or support channel provided in the Chrome Web Store listing for the extension.
